My First Sparring Match

Gathering myself I nodded to my sparring partner that I was ready for the rest of the 3minute round but I had a quick change of mind as I glanced at the electric timer remaining another minute and a half. He threw around a measuring eye as he murmured a vague acceptance. Continuing he suppressed his offence and strengthen his defense as for most of the remaining round he allowed me to rain blows in on and around his guard. It's not easy being so tough but it was the experience he contained that made him lethal in my view. I began impressing my coach in the second round after the knockdown in the first, but he claims it's more impressing to rise from the knock-down rather than knocking your opponent down. Keeping that in mind I realized coach was looking out for my safety but impressing him in this next round was growing into an unnecessary priority. Hope wasn't far but it was dim as my continuing punches slowly break my sparring partners guard here and there but mostly remained Impenetrable. Fear kept me in a vice when I duck and weave his wide hooks but as all hope seemed lost for impressing my coach I land a solid two punch combo that makes my sparring partner pause and force him to find me to his side as I shambled away with speed.
His face stiffened anew into a grey obstinacy when he realized it was my rhythm that kept me comfortable to throw and trade brief punches. With no hesitation he walks into and past my next two punches that he ate ferociously in one bite and adroitly shifted his stance to throw an uppercut underneath my arms into my stomach. Almost lifting my feet off the ground He steps back and held his breath in admiring silence to watch how I took the body blow. He listened greedily and gazed intent to the heavy sounds of me gasping for air as the ropes keep me up. It was impossible to mask the pain painted on my face but as I sank into the corner of the ring the clock catches my eyes behind him.
