My Greatest Weaknesses

            I possess more strengths than weaknesses but even those few weaknesses have a huge affect on me. A few of my biggest weaknesses have always been my shyness and my lack of confidence. As far back as I can remember, there has never been a time where I have done something confidently without being put down and this has been the biggest factor behind my weakness. My shyness has been one of those things that came along with my lack of confidence. Over the years as I have gotten older, I understood things better. I feel as I understood these things better, the less confidence I had. It wasn't until my junior year of high school that I finally realized there is something about me that I must change. It turned out to be exactly one of my biggest weaknesses, my lack of confidence and my ridiculous amount of shyness. .
             Lacking confidence has always affected the way others view me and what they think of me. The first thing people usually ask me is why I'm so quiet and shy and to be honest I could never exactly come up with a good enough response. The worst part about lacking confidence is that it gets in the way I perform at school and it has always had a negative effect on my grades. When we're asked to speak up in class, I am always worried about what others will think of me and I usually refrain from speaking up. I have this horrible feeling that I will say something wrong and others will think I am dumb or not good enough. No matter what I do, there is always a fear of failing that comes with it. When I'm faced with anything, I feel like I can't accomplish it on my own and I need to depend on the help of others. My lack of confidence has made me underestimate myself in every situation and has had a negative effect on my work and performance. .
             It wasn't until my junior year in high school that I realized just how greatly my lack of confidence and shyness really affected me. It felt as if I always had this heavy weight on my shoulders and it kept me from doing the things I yearned to do.
