Medical Overview - Pilondial Cysts

There are a variety of signs and symptoms of a Pilonidal cyst, not everybody will have the same signs and symptoms, because everyone's body is different. A handful of people will even be asymptomatic, which means showing no symptoms. Some of the signs and symptoms include lower back pain, reddening of skin, swelling and tenderness, and sometimes the cyst will have pus draining from it with a foul smelling odor. The area will also be warm to touch, which is a sign of an infection, accompanied by a fever, also due to the infection. You may have discomfort when you are sitting down, standing up, or even going from a standing to sitting position. Rarely, but sometimes it happens, a doctor will get blood work done for you, to look for an increased white blood cell count. If you have an increased WBC count, this could be an indication of an infection.
During my sophomore year of high school, I fell out of a high chair in my history class. I fell flat on my butt. I did not experience pain right away, but about a week later I started to experience some discomfort around my tailbone area. The pain was not persistent, it always came for a few days then it went away. I went through this for a year, before I decided to go to my doctor. When I went to him, he said I only needed physical therapy, because the area may be inflamed. So, I went to physical therapy for two months, two days a week, and the pain went away, but not for long. The pain went away for a few months, then it returned, and went away. I was back and forth to urgent care, put on medication, to be told the same thing every time.
So finally, my senior year of high school came and I was excited, but, unfortunately, in October, everything changed. My life was put on hold. My lower back pain had came back, and it was a normal level of pain, at first. I just thought it was going to be like it was for the past two years, just coming and going pain, but I was wrong.
