Medical Overview - Type II Diabetes

Controlling the intake of carbohydrates and fats, and keeping the amount about the same from day to day will make blood glucose level reach its normal point. Consuming more fiber and foods low in saturated fat lower cholesterol levels which in turn prevents heart disease. This is because there is too little Low-Density Lipoprotein (Cholesterol transporter from liver to tissue) and too much High Density Lipoprotein (cholesterol transporter from tissue to liver).
             My Diet .
Being from an African home, basically, I usually eat the same type of foods every other week. As for breakfast, I consume cereal with lactose free milk while on some days I consume bread with butter and coffee or beef with pasta. For lunch, I consume rice and spinach with a little amount of palm oil. For dinner, I usually consume a balanced diet. The foods include romaine lettuce, tomato, boiled egg and potato, onion with vinegar, as well as mache and avocado. I consume vegetables for dinner because they enable my muscles to recover after engaging in physical activities (soccer practice). Vegetables also improve my metabolic process (the sum of all chemical reactions that occur in cells) . Everyday, I drink at least eight cups of water since I experience a loss of water due to physical activities. Fruits like grapes, oranges and apples are also part of my daily consumption.
             Vitamins.
Since I consume romaine lettuce which is very rich in vitamins A, C and K, there is a high chance that it will prevent me from getting type 2 diabetes. In the case of vitamin A, cell growth is aided and a healthy immune system and vision is achieved. Moreover, vitamin A is said to boost beta cell activity which means lack of vitamin A may lead to type 2 diabetes. Several studies that have been carried out show that daily consumption of vitamin C especially in fruits decrease blood glucose and lipids. Therefore there is a high chance of not getting type 2 diabetes through consumption of fruits that contain vitamin C.
