Starbucks - Corporate Social Responsibility

Some organizations promote their social responsibility. These companies often claim that being ethical is good business and that it pays to be a "good corporate citizen." Identify an organization in your community that has a reputation for being ethical and socially responsible. What activities account for this image? Is the company successful? Why or why not?.
             Response:.
According to The World Business Council for Sustainable Development in its publication "Making Good Business Sense" by Lord Holme and Richard Watts, it defines Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) as the ongoing commitment by business to act ethically and contribute to economic development while improving the quality of life of the workforce and their families as well as of the local community and society at large. I believe many organizations in the world today are applying CSR as they do not only want to be seen as a profit making organization, but as an organization that behaves ethically towards the community and environment and contributes to the society as well. .
The organization that I have chosen to discuss about is Starbucks Corporation. It is an American coffee company and coffeehouse chain which is based in Seattle, Washington. As of today, Starbucks has expanded across the globe and it has 21366 stores worldwide as of the year 2014. It is widely known for its taste, quality and customer experience. Starbucks Corporation has caught my attention as an organization that has an image for being ethical and socially responsible. It is amazing to know that Starbucks carries out ethical sourcing of coffee which in turn helps to invest into the lives of coffee farmers and their communities. It all started in 1999 where Starbucks decided to collaborate with Conservation International, which is an organization that focuses on science, policy and partnership to save nature and build a healthier planet to ethically source their coffee around the world and promote growing methods that are environmentally responsible.
