Searching for Happiness in Waiting for Godot


One would not be happy if he was alone and had no one to share his pleasures. Therefore, to obtain happiness in our lives, maintaining loving relationships is necessary.
             The first scene starts with Pozzo and Lucky's entrance from Act 1. Vladimir and Estragon do not know them, so they ask them if Pozzo is Godot or not. However, Pozzo and Lucky answer that they do not know who Godot is and they introduce themselves. Vladimir and Estragon explain that they are waiting for Godot. It is also worth noting that Lucky acts like a servant of Pozzo and he obeys every order given by Pozzo who treats lucky with no mercy. Vladimir and Estragon ask why Lucky does not put down his bags and Pozzo answers that it is because he is trying to make himself look pitiful so that he earns Pozzo's sympathy and Pozzo would not abandon him. However, Pozzo mentions that he will be going to sell Lucky to the fair. Lucky cries and Vladimir and Estragon tries to calm him down. Estragon approaches Lucky to wipe his tears, but Lucky kicks him. Then, Pozzo talks about tears of the world. Vladimir criticizes Pozzo of the way he treats his faithful servant. Pozzo suddenly complains how troublesome Lucky is without any real reason, and then, Vladimir changes his attitude immediately and criticizes Lucky for pointing out that he troubles Pozzo. .
             The second scene also starts with Pozzo and Lucky entering. Pozzo and Lucky trip and fall. They asks for help. However, Vladimir and Estragon ignore this call for help and talk about what they could get out of help Pozzo and Lucky. Finally they help Vladimir and Estragon to stand up and hold Pozzo so that he does not fall again. Pozzo do not recognize Estragon and Vladimir because he had become blind. Pozzo begs not to leave him alone. Pozzo, Vladimir, and Estragon asks when exactly Pozzo became blind, but Pozzo does not know and they keep arguing about it. Vladimir and Estragon keep reminding themselves of what they are doing now, which is waiting for Godot.
