Influential Book: The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People

However, Covey mentions that we are in charge and responsible for our choices. He also added that real environment cannot be controlled by us, but can we can decide how to response and use the specific environment and live by the "principles of personal vision." As employees or students, we have the responsibility for the role of position and obtain relevant success as far as possible. Moreover, our time and energy are limited and they cannot pay attention to every situation. Therefore, in the future, we need to change our habits, response methods, and attitude to our non-control environment.
Covey's second habit tells us to start our goals with a clear and concise understanding of our destination; if we fail to follow such step, our chances of being unhappy will increase. We frequently find ourselves pursuing empty victories at the expense of things that were a lot more important. Politicians and managers, for example, spend their effort, time, and energies to pursue higher salaries and more fame instead of focusing on building relationships with their loved ones. The second habit helped me understand that I was failing to apply the principle of "begin with the end in mind" to my professional life. My goals at work include increasing my income and revenue to pay financial needs such as college tuition and personal bills. I realized that I wasn't pursuing goals that weren't bringing any happiness into my life nor were they adding sense of purpose and fulfillment to my existence. So I decided to change and compose a mission statement, both professionally and personally. My mission statement includes how I want to be remembered as an individual or employee such as punctuality, a positive attitude towards work, ability to perform any duties at work, initiative, and so on. Doing such things allows me to be adaptable, sensitive, and flexible. Now my goals are based on principles and truths that most probably will never change.
