Britain to Blame for the American Revolution

The American Revolution was crucial to the growth of the American colonies. With the British putting into place numerous laws and restrictions on the colonists and Britain's failure to address the issues that American colonists had brought up demonstrate that the British are to blame for the American Revolution. After years of negligence, which caused the colonists to feel as if they had more freedom, the British decided that since the French threat was reduced, they should focus more on the English colonies. However, instead of allowing the colonies to run freely, the British aggravated the colonists by claiming that the colonists did not support the war well enough and would therefore have to redeem themselves. However, the colonists disagreed on most of the issues concerning protection, taxes, and the mercantilist system. If the British had not tried to protect the theory of mercantilism and not tried to completely dictate all of the actions of the English colonist by imposing laws and acts such as the Navigation acts, various tax acts, and many other new laws, the colonist would not have felt so obliged to rebel for freedom against these exceedingly strict limitations.
The British had first of all completely overlooked the colonists" abilities to take care of themselves. The British believed that the colonists were incapable, weak and needed their protection. The colonists had, in fact, helped win the French and Indian war. However, the British refused to believe that such a thought was even possible. The British general believed they were far superior to the raw, untrained, scummy American colonial militia. So they decided to impose countless new laws as well as enforcing old ones that the British had never even taken time to think about enforcing before. One can only imagine how frustrated the colonist must have felt. After all, Britain did not simply make one or two new laws, the made and enforced seven laws, which sometimes even contained more restrictions within those laws.
