Television commercials reveal some significant characteristics of our culture. Some significant characteristics of our culture are hydro commercials; fast food commercials; and automobile commercials.
Firstly hydro commercials demonstrate our society's needs to conserve energy. For example there was a commercial way back, where a married couple needed to use there computer/internet and to have full clarity (such as high speed of internet) they went out side and turn off all the hydro in their area, so they could use their computer.
Secondly fast food commercials illustrates that in our society it's a necessity for fast food places, like McDonalds and Wendys. It also very convenient. For example the Wendy's commercial, talking about " eat great, even late" demonstrates convience since it is open later than usually. It also a necessity for the people who need to grab food on the go. Society is very business oriented which results to many people on the go, with no time on their hands and simply their motor vehicles for transportation. It only makes sense that fast good is so popular, fast food restaurants are also known to be cheap and very family oriented. They are made for our convenience so why not take the help, where we can get it. Especially when most fast food places are open 24 hours a day anytime they"re needed.
Thirdly automobile commercials signify that our society has been progressively getting use to the thought that they need to have possessions that are considered cool. Our society shows to be very concerned with appearance to demonstrate status or importance; becoming more and more materialistic as the year pass by. An idea produced from the film " Fast and the Furious" (a popular/important film) came the commercial for Honda. The commercial was a number of Hondas driving down the street, similar to down-town Toronto or Woodbridge, by beautiful people of significant status.
