Anorexia

They also brought up the consequences of anorexia. Pawluck and Gorey state that anorexia among young men and women has many deleterious and even mortal consequences which include feelings of isolation, depression, comorbid sexual abuse experiences, sexual dysfunctions, self injurious behaviors including alcohol and illicit substance abuse, suicidal ideas and behaviors, and early death from a number of related health problems(Pawluck and Gorey 1996).
This next journal which was written by G. Russell, J. Treasure, and I Eisler is titled "Mothers with Anorexia Nervosa Who Underfeed their Children: their Recognition and Management". Their article was basically a study of women with anorexia which deprived their children of food and as a result body size of most of the children studied was affected even after the mother got treatment for anorexia. The authors stated that women with anorexia nervosa have a reduced fertility rate but some who do borne children have infants with serious health problems like being severely under weight (Russell, Treasure, and Eisler, 1998). Also stated by the authors was the fact that it is hard to identify anorexic mothers who underfeed their children and in some cases the children die from starvation before their mother is diagnosed as anorexic (Russell, Treasure, and Eisler, 1998).
The next journal article "Long Term Course of Anorexia Nervosa Response, Relapse, Remission, and Recovery" was written by K. Pike. The main issues addressed in this journal article dealt with the different health risks of anorexia and the kinds of places one could go to get help or counseling for anorexia. The author stated that for an anorexic to recovery he or she must do two main things which are admit they have a problem and they must seek out help and want to get better(Pike, 1998).
The last journal article which I used for my paper was entitled "Dating People with Anorexia Nervosa and Bulimia Nervosa: Attitudes and Beliefs of University Students" and was written by Jeffery Sobal and Mark Bursztyn.
