Fuel For The Fire

"Then attack Eminem cause I rap this way/ But I'm glad cause they feed me the fuel that I need for the fire/ to burn and it's burnin' and I have returned" (Mathers 4.18-20). As certain groups supporting gay and women's rights, along with Eminem's wife and mother, continue to file lawsuits against him, they fail to realize that their actions only encourage Eminem. Many songs he writes contain replies to Eminem's enemies. Obviously not afraid to express how he feels, by leaving Eminem alone his enemies will benefit more. If he does not have some sort of insult or conviction to begin from, Eminem will most likely move on to other subjects. Eminem's supposedly outrageous songs identify who he is and how he handles the consequences of his difficult childhood, yet certain groups along with his wife and mother insist on picketing and filing lawsuits in an attempt to put an end to his career.
While Eminem continues to write offensive songs, people fail to understand what motivates him. Living a horrible childhood, Eminem, born as Marshall Mathers, deserves to write these songs (Gundersen 1). Everyone deserves to have some type of therapy, Eminem's therapy happens to be writing songs, as he stated in his book, " My true feelings were coming out, and I just needed an outlet to dump them in I needed an excuse to let go of all this rage, this dark humor, the pain, and the happiness" (Angry Blonde 003). In his song "Cleanin' Out My Closet", Eminem mentions watching his mother as she becomes addicted to prescription pills. Many artists write songs reflecting upon their past or childhood, yet because Eminem's lyrics expose the negative life of his mother as well, people will not tolerate them. In an interview with The Rolling Stone Magazine, Mathers refers to his song written about his daughter, "That song was stress of my chest. That's how it is with every song I do; it's therapy and it's releasing everything onto a record instead of doing any of it" (Bozza 1).
