A Bullfight

A stadium of stone reaches towards the sky. A crowd is waiting to enter, a crowd is waiting to watch. A crowd is waiting to see the blood of a bull spilled for their pleasure. The deadly ring's exterior hums with the excitement of the blood thirsty crowd. The masses of mindless people follow each other in drones like sheep to the Shepard. No longer thinking on their own, each allows the mob to guide their movements. Like vampires in the night they thirst for blood. Many of the people have made the pilgrimage from distant areas of the world. They come to see the mythical battle between man and beast. .
The crowds enter the arena eager with anticipation. Each body glows with the energy of the kill to come. Locals carry-on with traditional festivities. Flowers and music flow through the passageways like water through a river. The air fill with a stench of sweat and mixed perfumes. A bell tolls with an ominous tone and all the spectators head to their seats. The time approaches and the dirt floor of the arena begins to bustle with activity. Men dressed in brilliant clothes dance alone on the stage of dirt. The men dance with a cloak of red and black, holding it as if it were a beautiful woman. They dance a practiced dance. Spinning and dipping, sliding and stepping. The man and his cloak are ready for battle, ready for the show.
Like a prisoner confined with manacles the bull is dragged by its horns, forced to walk from it pen onto the stage. The bull is ready, the matador is waiting. A tense quiet moves through the stadium. A hush of respect and eagerness is holding the crowd hostage. Like an iron ball from a cannon the bull is released and the slaughter begins. The animal is unaware, but nothing is left but for it to die. It chases the brightly colored cloth as the matador flashes the cloak with the precision of a surgeon. .
The life has been taken, and the crowd has been pleased. The masses lust for blood has been tamed for the time being.
