All of us share this intuition to believe what we hear or read. Most of us want to believe that most people are truly good and honest people, who wouldn't tell a lie. That even in itself is not true, because no one tells 100% of the truth 100% of the time. Our first instinct is to believe what we hear because we have been taught that from birth. From the moment we are born, our parents are telling us things; ingraining information into our heads. Children have no choice than to believe what their parents set forth as the truth. Children do not know any better. They do not know the difference between the truth and a lie. They may know what their parents tell them is the truth and what is a lie, but even then, their parents could be lying about what is the truth and what is a lie. In this case, it might be our parents that decide what is the truth. It's a confusing web, but if you think about it, it makes sense. .
In the case of our country, it is our government that decides what the truth is. We as the people of this country, have no choice but to believe what our president and other politicians have to say about the welfare of our country. They tell us that they are telling the truth. When in all reality everything they tell us is in one way or another a lie, because they must hide the real truth in light of "national security- or "the people's best interest."" Well I don't know about anyone else, but my best interest is to know the truth. I sure would like to know just exactly why the U.S. is at war with Iraq, or why we haven't found the people behind 9/11, or many of the other numerous scandals and skepticisms out there. Yet I have no choice than to believe what my president tells me is the truth. There has to be lies in there somewhere, or else there wouldn't be an estimated $100 billion dollars paid out yearly in bribes worldwide (OECD Observer). .
For a lot of people, it is God that decides what is the truth in their lives.
