Even Though New England and the Chesapeake Region were settled mainly by people from England, later the regions both became two distinct societies. They became distinctive in their political, social, and economical ways throughout time.
At first you can see that there social distinction were similar in many ways in religion and way of life. As things went a long things began to go in different ways. There religion was based on the England faith when they came over to the new land but when time went along and things started to change New England areas became places for religious refuge for many reasons. After reading these documents you can find out that the beginning of each region started out with people coming from England wether it was families or people wanting to move to a new place. The distinctions were that New England brought many families over and a lot of young children and the Chesapeake region brought a variety of people with not very many kids. The many people that came over were either poor, rich, high in power and dignity, or looking for a new place to start over in there jobs or try to find work.
The economical stand point was an obvious change between the two areas throughout time. They both started out new with vary little and gained as they learned about the land they were in and even learned from Indians and other groups. New England had problems with short farming season and cold winters while the Chesapeake region had warmer seasons and longer lasting farming seasons in which they could grow more food and don't worry about surviving the cold. In the Chesapeake region at first there main economical stand point was to find gold, wash gold, refine gold, and load gold as the documents say. As the pursuit for gold was slow and not as much as what they hoped for they soon began to settle in to towns growing tobacco, corn, and other foodstuffs for there economy. In New England there economy was very difficult to maintain because of weather purposes with short growing seasons and harsh winters.
