The Last of The Mohicans is a movie based on the French and Indian war. It takes place during the colonial times in New York, during the time period of 1754-1763. Most fights were over forts and land. In 1757 the French and English were in dispute because of the Ohio River Valley. Both went to war for it. The French had the Huron tribe as allies while the English had the Iroquois and other tribes. The English at some point needed reinforcement to fight the French, therefore Colonel Edmund Monro sent Major Duncan to seek for help within the colonials and the Native Americans. They agreed to help and were promised to be released from duty if their farms were ever in danger, which resulted in a lie from the Colonel. The militia escaped and the English then needed additional help. Once the English did not receive the help needed they surrendered Fort William Henry to the French. As the English were leaving the Fort the Hurons attacked the English. The last English survivors were the two daughters of Colonel Edmund Monro, Cora and Alice and Major Duncan. The lead member of the Huron Mugua decided to take them as prisoners. Once in front of the Huron Chief Sashim, Cora was sent to be burned alive, while Alice was sent with Mugua to create a new tribe. Hawkeye, which was Cora's lover, interfered and ordered Duncan to translate his words to the Huron chief telling him to take him instead. Duncan however tells the chief to take him. Cora is sent free and Duncan is put to burn. On their way to another place Uncas who is Hawkeye's half brother attempts to rescue Alice from Mugua but gets killed. Alice decides to jump of the cliff and dies. Chingahook then kills Mugua. After killing Mugua Chingahook and Hawkeye stand over some mountains and create a little ceremony in which they wished Uncas spirit to rest in peace. Then Chingahook announced himself to be the last of the Mohicans.
