They focused mainly on the issues addressed in the debate and made the candidates look as if they didn't know how to attack the issues. They didn't show any good arguments from the candidates only controversial ones. They then began talking about thunderstorms and lightning strikes. They gave a statistic of how many times lightning struck the ground. The statistic was rather high as if they were trying to give people a scare about being hit by lighting. Studies show that the odds of a person being struck by lighting is slim to none. The statistic varied from station to station. The news might alter a statistic in order to make a story more appealing. They then talked about some murders in Oakland and made it sound like it was a good thing because the murder rate decreased from last year. People standards are questioned in this segment by saying that the murder rate was better and people can be happy about that. They used a lot of imagery by taking you to Oakland and showing some shootings and chalk outlines of people. When I saw this, I was appalled to know that they were trying to turn what I saw into a good thing. They then talked about athlete supplement use. They try to use the idea of doing anything to win to attract sport fans to the news. See the transition from murder to sports; see transition from death to cheating. The news continues to focus on negative happenings. People look up to athletes and think they are perfect. They would want to know about any imperfections. People would rather concentrate on people's failures than their accomplishments. The news gives people what they want to see. They then did a weather report. People like to do activities and some activities require different weather conditions. The news transitions from prime time news to local news like the weather. After all the controversy they bestowed on you, they now want to inform you if it will be a nice day for a picnic! They then did a report about pet care.
