Describe and explain change and reasons for the change.
On the morning of September 11th 2001, four passenger planes were hijacked by terrorist and used as weapons. At 8:45 am the first plane crashed into the North tower of the world-renowned World Trade Center. 9:06am herald the crashing of the second plane into the South tower of the World Trade Center. Approximately an hour later both towers collapsed. A third plane hit the Pentagon at 9:40am and a forth crashed in a field in Pennyslavia at 10:37, believe en route to Camp David. The reasons for this terrorist acts are many and can be easily classified into long and short term causes.
Starting with a long-term cause, Osama bin Laden; supposed leader of Al-Qaeda, believes that the Americans are like crusades in the 11th century. Christians against Muslims trying to gain control of Jerusalem. Osama sees the Americans as crusaders because the crusades in the 11th century were fought on Islamic land and was in fought in the name or Christ. Osama bin Laden believes that the US army wishes to control Jerusalem, which was the goal for all previous crusades.
The creation of Israel in 1948 could also have been a major part on the terrorist attacks on America. For its creation took up 54% of Palestine. There is much enmity between Israel and her neighbours. American support for Israel has not helped the situation. They see as America being a father to Israel and putting their hands into matters, which does not concern them. By removing America from the picture, Israel might be left defenceless and can then be overpowered by Arabs.
US trade and military aid given to Israel poses a great threat for Arab countries nearby because Israel is growing stronger and stronger and when Israel's influence grows so does US influence. The Arabs nations will soon be overrun with Western ideas and beliefs and the assimilation of Arabs will occur.
Another long-term cause would be the fact that American has helped Osama take down a superpower - namely the Soviet.
