Washington and Du Bois DBQ

He stated the three things the blacks requested which are the right to vote, civic equality, and youth education. Du Bois doesn't expect the changes to happen quickly, but he expects it to come in time. They won't give up until they can vote, not be discriminated against, and be educated. .
Du Bois also spoke at "The Niagara Movement", Document F. He doesn't agree with people trying to prevent blacks from their freedom of speech. Whites try to pay off Negro papers to change the opinions given off to the public. Du Bois fought for of course education for black kids, and money opportunities just as Washington. In this speech he chose to expose the wrongs of the whites in their treatment of the blacks. He wanted to rally the people so that they would fight to get liberty and to follow it once it is achieved.
Document G is a periodical written by the activist, T. Thomas Fortune for the Christian Recorder. It is about the schools Washington established to help educate blacks- Tuskegee Normal and Industrial Institute. Washington took the first steps in training new school teachers on how to educate which will prepare them for future work. This would expand the teachers ability enabling the blacks to receive the best education possible. In the Industrial School, the blacks were taught a variety of beneficial skills from stock-raising to housekeeping to printing and building. Washington's schools were very helpful in spending time on practical information that can be applied to life and not wasting time on trivial, unimportant information. His schools also taught about morality and religion. From Fortune's viewpoint, Washington's value for blacks is very apparent in the society.
Although Fortune took a positive view in his article on Washington, there were some who wrote negatively such as Ida Wells Barnett(in Document H). She tells of how one of the most renowned people representing her race should not be, in her opinion joining with the enemies.
