Blue Highways

In the story, "Blue Highways", Least Heat Moon travels across America. He is always wanting to know more about everything. He is curious to find out about everything he bumps into especially simple places and the names of the towns. He likes to meet people and talk to them asking questions to learn more about the towns. He is very much interested in the cafes and how many "calendars" it has. His standard on-the-road breakfast is two eggs up, hash browns, and tomato juice. He studies the waitresses and makes observations on how they look physically. He has a slight sense of humor. He's kind of boring to talk to but at the same time he is sociable. He tells people about his journeys. He would rather travel with a dog than just a van in which he sleeps. He is particularly interested in a town named "Nameless" which is in Tennessee. He isn't afraid to talk to strangers and ask for directions. He faces them boldly and holds conversations with them curious about their lives. He is always wanting to know about people and places. He's love to learn just about anything. He is kind to people but not shy or self-conscious. He doesn't give up easily. If he wants something, he will go for it and make everyone want to help him because of his warming and convincing personality.
The people respect and like him just like he respects and likes the people. He listens to them and doesn't think he's better than them. In other words, he's confident in himself but not conceited. Little things that might not amuse people at all are very interesting for him. He has manners. When he eats, he invites other people to join him. He doesn't like to be eating as other people watch. He doesn't consider that proper just like any well-raised person. He loves to travel and is up to do anything as long as it seems interesting or fun. He doesn't have his life all planned out. He just takes it one day at a time seeing where life will lead him next.
