Ryerson University Phycology

I have always been interested in understanding people and trying to solve other's problems. For that, when I was younger I have been involved in going to Mainland China to distribute out clothing and other materials that can be afforded by my volunteer group from the temple to the poor. Now that I am in Canada, I am also trying to make a difference in someone's life by participating in activities within the temple and volunteer myself out once I have time and to go to the hospital to entertain some seniors or to help out in the temple once there is an opportunity. Also I did some volunteer work in being an assistant for a teacher at Christ the King elementary school for Chinese school on Saturday when I was grade 11. Some children during recess time would come to me, especially girls, just to talk with me over some of their happiest moments and sometimes even tell me what they dislike in school or with their parents. I would always try to listen and give my opinion as to not take sides and to comfort them as much as possible if they were crying. With these experiences when I was young, it really has influenced my decision to pursue a degree in Social Work since I know that I have the awareness of human diversity and that most importantly I would want to make a difference in someone's life. .
I really want to take a commitment to the mission and values of the Ryerson School of Social Work because I know that I would be involving in evaluating problems and situations in a very flexible manner in which I will be able to adapt to each problem and situations that I face. What motivates me the most into choosing this program out of all others is that I have the patience and heart that I am willing to give out my time in supporting others in accomplishing their goals and to promote for social justice and equity for everyone. I want to be more into my communities and to promote the concept of respecting each other as human being and to break the barriers to equality and to find out a reason of the causes of oppression.
