The Civil War: A look through a slave

Most territories were decided by majority to be slave states. People said the government was making different compromises and territories to try and even everyone out. Unfortunately tension ran high between the two sides and rumors began spreading "round "bout Men black and white who was causing a stir in the country. One black man Nat Turner supposedly murdered white men all over because he had a message from god to do so. Nobody knows for sure if this is true but I reckon something must be happening if there's all this talk. Not only was black men fighting but white men from the north was causing trouble on our account too. .
*A man named John Brown Caused quite a stir. He fought and killed many white folks in different parts of the south fighting against slavery and trying to prove something. He's what people round here call a Martyr. I asked my Daddy what a Martyr was and he told me it was someone who died for a cause. I suppose its sad that John Brown died for us black folks but It brought me hope. Hope that the rest of them white folks see that slavery should come to an end. .
*I reckon that Mr. Abraham Lincoln would help free us slaves. Down south no one wanted to vote for him because he thought that slavery isn't right. Blacks down south even been talking about Mr. Lincoln saying us slaves deserve some respect Ha! Isn't that an idea? Slaves like me deserving respect from the white man? I reckon Mr. Lincoln didn't get too many votes from the southerners. They wanted a president who was going to institute slavery. When he did get elected boy I never seen so many white men so angry. It was around this time when the confederates decided it was time to succeed from the Union.
*Succession was something that enraged the north. They thought it was illegal for states to leave the Union and form there own country. The south was talking about becoming the Confederate States where they made there own laws and constitution and where they"d never have to get rid of slavery.
