Divorce

"Do you pay your own car insurance?", asked Janet.

"Oh, well you must have two parents then?".

And that's when I realize how lucky I am that I have both parents who are happily married. Many children grow up in single parent homes. Divorce is a terrifying situation. A promise the husband and wife made earlier to be loyal and faithful to each other forever is being broken. About half of all marriages in the United States today end up failing; they result in divorce. Divorces occur for three main reasons: financial differences, abuse, and a failure to compromise.
Money is a very important necessity to many people. Money is what makes the world go around. Many believe that without money one could not survive. One of the leading causes of divorce is a sudden change in financial stability. A partner losing a job could be one cause of a financial difference. This could lead to problems with getting bills paid on time and making ends meet. Life styles may have to change and most aren't accustomed to such changes. Usually people find the easy way out of this situation and a once happy marriage is turned into another statistic; divorce. Foolish spending habits seem to become an issue. Different living styles can become a conflict. With marriage comes the combination of two lifestyles coming together as one. If one partner is used to spending as they please and paying the plastic off later, and the other partner is used to scrimping and saving and only spending the least amount of money to get by, the conflicts arise. These two lifestyles are completely different and are more than likely to end in disaster. .
Another reason for divorce is abuse. There are two types of abuse, mental and physical. These abuses may be triggered in someone when they are under the influence of drugs or alcohol. The mistreatment of people while under the influence of these substances can cause one to physically or verbally abuse another person.
