Genetic engineering and evolution

The roots of cultural evolutionism are intertwined with the biological theory of natural selection "a theory arrived at by Charles Darwin and made famous in his book The Origin of Species. Yet biological and cultural evolution each has "rules of its own- and confusing the two is a grave error. Biological evolution is the natural process that led to the creation of humans and other species long after unicellular bacteria appeared on Earth. Cultural evolution, on the other hand, involves manifestations of the evolution of human intelligence one of which is genetic engineering. Biological development is the subject Stephen Jay Gould discusses in his essay "What does the dreaded "E- word mean, anyway?- where he tries to define the meaning of "Evolution- in different contexts. Cultural evolution and specially genetic engineering of potatoes is the issue that Michael Pollan holds in his essay "Playing God in the Garden- where he describes his own experience with the New Leaf potatoes (which are genetically modified). Another form of cultural evolution; cloning which also falls in the category of genetic engineering composes the subject of Ian Wilmut's essay "Cloning People- where he exposes the uses of cloning and its disadvantages. The relationship that binds the three texts together and thus connects evolution to genetic engineering is that genetic engineering is simply a rapid form of evolution. People unsurprisingly fear every new and unknown scientific perception (they feared the concept of evolution when it was first stated) because it defies their long held beliefs but once they accept it as natural, speeding up evolution by genetic engineering would be advantageous to society because it is only offering now what the natural course of things will offer in millions of years.
Genetic engineering is, by definition, a changing of genes or a modification of certain sequences of the D.
