Monster threatening Earth is Us

Summary: Monster Threatening Earth Is Us.

The article "Monster Threatening Earth Is Us," by David Suzuki states that global war would be declared on anything that would be endangering all life on Earth. His thesis statement goes on to claim that we are facing this epidemic yet continue to do nothing about it because the monster happens to be human.
Suzuki states that, "we are overrunning the planet like an out-of-control malignancy, and that we continue to add to our numbers by 90 million every year." With that many people, and augmenting population, we inevitably are destroying the very soil so depend upon. "25 billion tons of agricultural topsoil is swept away annually. That's 7% of the globe's good growing land every decade." He also goes on to state that, "since 1984, global food production has declined each year, just at the precise time that the human population is exploding.".
Suzuki also backs up his statements by commenting on how the devastations unrelenting. How that every five minutes, every day of the year, there is chemicals transported internationally, and that no one is free of toxic debris. There are also 50 to 100 acres of rain forest destroyed every minute. In addition there is also nearly 20 000 species that disappear each year permanently.
Suzuki brings the points that CFC's have already warmed up our climates and even though there have been steps taken to rectify the situation; there are still decades of backlash to follow. Suzuki says, "We are already using an immoral amount and we, not the Third World, are the major cause of the current environment crises." From the article we can conclude that we, as a species, are in a war to save our planet.
