Baraka seems to be a movie made to express the importance of compassion and respect for all living things. The phrase "a picture shows a thousand words" has never been proved truer. This movie makes one think how everyone and everything is interrelated to one another, and the importance of each person, and animal in the environment in which they live. No matter how diverse or different many social groups may be, in order for the environment (the world) to survive, everyone must be compassionate, loving and understanding towards one another. It seemed as if we were viewing different places in the world where compassion for these things lacked. The result of this seemed to be death, poverty and chaos. Poor people were scavenging for food at a garbage dump, bums sleeping on the streets, and prostitutes working on the streets. All of these pictures seemed to be lacking compassion. Compassion should not stop there however, but should continue onto animals and other living organisms as well. Compassion must extend to animals and organisms like the two donkeys pulling a heavy cart up a steep hill and even the baby chicks that were separated to clip beaks at the egg factory. .
The answer to all of the worlds conflicts start with us, men and women. With the practice of compassion in our daily lives towards all living things, man, environment and animal can thrive. When we begin to segregate ourselves and not practice compassion is when we can see the true destruction behind our actions and continuation of this will eventually cause an ending to all life.
