Midkiff's Restaurant is the best eating experience that I have ever had. There are so many different criteria that could be evaluated, that it is hard to pick three. From the many, I chose the atmosphere, the service, and the food. .
The atmosphere was absolutely amazing. There is nothing like it in Mt. Airy that even compares to Midkiff's. The atmosphere has nice music that does not feel too much like elevator music like in most places. The entire restaurant is filled with old photos of Mt. Airy ranging from the 1950's to probably the 1970's. There are also loads of pictures of Andy Griffith. I feel that the restaurant is very much like a restaurant found in New Orleans. The style reminds me of a restaurant found there. There were also road signs that symbolize many different places throughout the country. The tables had candles on them to give a hint of a romantic atmosphere, as well as the nice tablecloths, and proper silverware. .
The service was another issue. My waitress's name was Jeanne. She was overall a nice person. She cared for us very well. Although I have only one complaint, which is that she forgot my ice when I asked for more, but that is a very common human mistake. After all it is not like she is a machine or anything. Throughout the meal, Jeanne was very attentive, and also very personable. She carried on a conversation with me as if she was my best friend for several years. I thought that that was an enormous plus on her part as a waitress. I have rarely been to a place where they actually care what you think, instead of what they think you are going to leave them as a tip. On a scale from one to ten, overall I would give Jeanne an eight. She did an excellent job except for the ice that she forgot to bring me.
The last thing that I analyzed was the food. I ordered the Filet Mignon. Which came with, bread, a salad, asparagus, and baby sautéed carrots.
