America has one of the highest rates of divorce in the modern world today. Our music reflects this problem as well as television and movies. Because I do not want to be a statistic, I am searching for the "Perfect Mate". The three most important traits that I am looking for in a mate are honesty, communication, and compatibility. I would like to talk about these qualities and why they are important to me .
First honesty, how could anyone have a relationship without this? I believe not being honest, between couples, is one of the largest contributing factors of divorce today. When two people decide to share their life together as one, honesty should be one of the top priorities. You should be able to tell your partner everything about yourself, past and present, without fear of being judged. When someone is dishonest is causes stress, and lying will ruin a relationship faster than it started. These are only a few of the reasons why I believe honesty has to be a trait of my mate.
Communication opens the door in every relationship. Being able to talk to my partner will increase our bond and strengthens our relationship. It is very important when two people can converse about a vast majority of subjects. When you are unable to talk and share your feelings with your partner, often, problems will arise. Communication can only enhance a relationship.
Last but certainly not least, in my search for the perfect mate, I want someone with whom I am compatible. In order to be involved with someone you should share some common interests and beliefs. Couples should be able to enjoy doing things together. They should also be able to decide on important matters such as the way they wish to raise their children, religious beliefs, and certain ethics. All of these things require a certain amount of compatibility.
Although I may never find my "perfect" mate, I hope to find someone with whom I am compatible, is very honest, and is not afraid of communication.
