Book Report of All Quiet on the Western Front

A French soldier jumped in, and Paul stabbed him instinctively. Paul became very regretful about what he did; because he realized that his enemy was only an inculpable solider, just like him. But it was too late; the French soldier was dying. In order to lighten the guilt, Paul told the French soldier he would tell his family what was happened on him. This was the first time Paul fight with his enemy hand to hand. He understood what the French soldier thought and suffered, because they were the same kind of person in the war, even though they are enemies. They were not the one that caused the war, they could not control the war, they were inculpable, but, they have to fight each other for the people they don't even familiar with. This indicated that the victims of the war are not the countries, not the leaders of the war, but the soldiers and only the soldiers in the war.
From this event happened on Paul, we can understand that Paul is a very sensitive, compassionate, and pure-hearted man. He felt sorry for every soldier in the war, he knew the reason why they became enemies was because their different nationalities, he had very good relationships with his friends, when his friends wounded, he consoled them, and tell them they will recover very soon in order to appease their fear of death. Of course, like all of the soldiers, Paul hated the war, and fear about it, but he did not evade, he was brave. I like Paul; I admire the strong spirit of him.
The film of All Quiet on the Western Front basically followed the plot of the book, but it cut off some of the scenes which are not very important in the book. The atmosphere in the film was very much like the atmosphere in the book, so even though the plots are not exactly the same, but the film still accomplished its point. However, I think the film did not have as many thoughts as the book had. The film just told the whole story of the book, but the feelings of the soldiers were barely showed in the film, and I personally think that the feelings are one of the most classic parts of the novel.
