In the 1980's chemists and analysts combined their thoughts and came up with a service flow economy program. Instead of our economy being based upon materials and buying them it would be based on using services and then returning them. There are many advantages of refillable containers because they are a form of waste reduction. Most reusable containers are made of polyethylene terephthalate. "This waste reduction extends resource supplies, keeps high-quality matter resources from being reduced to low-matter-quality waste, and reduces energy use and pollution even more than recycling. Many countries have adopted the reuse plan by using refillable drink containers. Although reuse has influenced many people to quit using biodegradable things such as throwaway napkins, plates for reusable ones.
The two ways to recycle glass, metal, and paper are primary and secondary recycling. Primary recycling is when consumed waste products are recycled into the exact same products. Examples are when aluminum cans are recycled into aluminum cans, or when newspapers are recycled into newspapers. Americans have become very accustomed to having their drinks in aluminum cans, and if a certain product is only available in glass, many will not make the purchase. It's just the opposite in Denmark. For nearly 20 years there has been a ban on aluminum cans and nearly all drinks were packaged in glass, or other easily recyclable/reusable containers until 2002. This type of recycling helps reduce pollution, and saves energy due to the decrease in the manufacturing of new resources.
