Public Relations Firms

            
             Public relations are a vase and diverse field with many alleys and avenues of possible careers that can be chosen. The two largest career choices are public relations departments and firms. They are different in many senses but the most diverse sense would most likely be who there clients are. With a department the corporation that a person works for is their sole client and within a firm they have a diverse clientele. I would prefer to work in a firm for many reasons such as that very diversity in clientele, extensive resources at the firm's disposal, and broader services. .
             Public relations firms offer many services where I could pursue a career in. Some of the most fascinating services to me are marketing communications, crisis communication, community relations, and events management. Marketing communications involves promoting products and services through news releases, feature stories, media tours, and special events. I think that this service would be very interesting in the sense that it would allow a firm to tap into its advertising services also. It appears to be very diverse and would provide a hearty task to cover all areas of promotion.
             Crisis communication consists of counseling management on everything from what they say to what they do in an emergency situation. This is a very important time for any company and determines whether that company succeeds or not. Some companies such as Ford and Firestone had to initialize there on crisis communication in the issue of faulty tires on one of Ford's most popular vehicles. Both companies handled themselves in a relatively good manner in regards to their crisis management in a situation that could have been fatal to a tire corporation and an entire line of sport utility vehicles.
             It is known by most people in any public service position that most everything they do affects the public and that the people will have plenty of opinions following any action.
