             "Sure You Can Ask Me a Personal Question".
            
             Thesis: In Diane Burns's poem "Sure You Can Ask Me a Personal Question", a minority who ethnic roots misunderstood eagerly answered questions to help the stereotypical white woman identify the speaker cultural.
             I. The experience minority assured the woman that she was not any of the labeled races.
             A. "NO, I am not Chinese or Spanish.".
             B. "No, I am American Indi- uh, Native American.".
             II. The minority answered that her race is "not extinct"; however, they are going through difficult times. "Yes, Indin".
             III. The woman tried to relate to the minority.
             A. "The woman told the speaker that her great grand mother was an Indian Princess".
             B. The woman gossip about previous relationship she encountered with other Indians.
             IV. The woman apologizes for her ancestors past behavior towards the speaker minority race.
             A. The speaker replies, "It's real decent of you to apologize".
             B. The speaker agrees with the woman for the first time "yeah it was awful what you guys did to us.
             V. It is obvious; the minority does not want to form a relationship with the woman.
             The woman begins to ask stereotyped questions that made the speaker un- comfortable. .
             A. The woman asked the woman did she know where to purchase drugs and Navajo rugs very cheap.
             B. To the reader, the minority was wearing a handcraft garment and was insulted when ask did she create it. "I bought it at Bloomingdale's" was the reply she gave the stereotypical woman.
             VI. The speaker concluded the poem assuring the stereotypical woman that "This ain't a stoic look" her facial expression is who she really is.
