The year: 2024, the world will look different, new buildings will be erected and old ones destroyed, and I will be 37 years old. But for now the year is 2004; my 37th birthday is more than 7,000 days away. The way I take things, and most high school students take things, is one day at a time. I know who I am now, but what will I be tomorrow, or the day after that? Will I make the right choices, succeed in my endeavors, and accomplish my goals? Only time will tell, but in 20 years I see practically a brand new me.
I would have already graduated college and been well into my secondary education career as a high school English teacher. When I was a student, I would look at my teacher as I was sitting at my desk, and I thought to myself that one day I would be standing where my teacher was. Now that vision is more vivid, I cannot picture myself doing anything else as a career in my future. I want to become a teacher for a few reasons. Not only are teachers necessary, but they are some of the most important people in the world. If there were no teachers, then who would educate future doctors, businessmen, lawyers, and even the President of the United States? As a 37 year old, I might have my PhD by now and perhaps be an English professor at a college or university. I would hopefully establish myself as one of the best and most respected teachers or professors in the area, by teaching students critical skills and topics, as well as developing a friendship and understanding with them. I also greatly enjoy the subject of English, and love reading and writing. All of these attributes would greatly help me in my career. Lastly, I have a strong passion for helping others, and I think that teaching someone something new is one of the most wonderful things you can do for a person. Aside from my teaching career, I will also be a published poet. I started writing poetry at the age of 15, and I already have 3 of my poems appearing in books in the USA and UK.
