Hunter becomes the hunted

" 'It must have courage, cunning, and, above all, it must be able to reason.
'But no animal can reason,' objected Rainsford.
'My dear fellow,' said the general, 'There is one that can.' " (pg. 22 paragraph 1,2,3).
No one wants to read a boring story. A good story needs to suck the reader into it and make the reader feel almost as if they were in the place of the characters. For an author to create this they must use plot. Plot is a series of events that are well crafted to create a suspense and mystery to the story. A plot is what sucks the reader into the story, making the reader never want to put the book down. Without plot the story would make no sense at all and be absolutely boring to read. A good author will use plot to create a great and interesting story. Richard Connell did I good job of making a suspenseful plot in The Most Dangerous Game that put the reader right in the characters place. Authors use different types of plot for their own writing styles, but it is always needed in a storyline.
"'The place has a reputation-a bad one.'.
             'Cannibals?' suggested Rainsford.
             'Hardly. Even cannibals wouldn't live in such a God-forsaken place '" (pg. 14 paragraph 14, 15, 16).
The exposition is pretty much the boring part of a story, but extremely necessary. It gives the background information on the characters, setting, etc. Connell explained the dark and dreariness of the island where the two hunters were headed. The exposition usually comes first in a plot. It helps the reader get to know the characters and understand where the story takes place. The exposition is sometimes a challenge to figure out and as always some people interpret things differently.
"Then he felt an impulse to cry aloud with joy, for he had heard the sharp crackle the breaking branches as the cover of the pit gave way: he heard the sharp scream of pain as the pointed stakes found their mark." (pg. 28 paragraph 2).
I major part of plot is conflict.
