The Black Eyed Peas sing a great song that describes our society today. The name of the song, "Where Is The Love" says the main point of the song. The song says, "The Bloods, and The Crips and the KKK/ But if you only love your own race/Then you only leave space to discriminate/And to discriminate only generates hate. This a big representation of today's society; it represents the way people act towards each other and have been acting towards each other since we can remember. .
Even though politicians might say that there is no more racism going on, the fact remains that racism will always exist. History is one of the factors to contribute to the racism. Some African-American people will never forget the way they and their ancestors were treated by the "white" people. There will always be some sort of resentment in the hearts of some African-Americans. However African Americans are not the only racists. Some white people still think that black people are no good for anything but being slaves. Even though there are still some KKK organizations some white people are just racist against them because of what they were taught by their parents. .
I went on a cruise over the summer and I kept in touch with one of the girls I met on the cruise. She is from Arkansas and she told me how bad it is in her school and in the street with the racism. She told me that the white teens and the black teens are always separate when it comes to gym, the lunchroom, and even when they are outside. Sometimes the black teens get beat up after school. She also told me that there are white parents who discriminate against black people in public places, including the groceries and the streets. .
In Xavier it is not so bad but there is some discrimination that's goes on. As my guidance counselor and Fr. C might have mentioned, the lunch tables are a clear fact of the discrimination. On one table are the "white boys" and on the other table are the "minorities.
