The Girl I am Today

The girl I am today is much stronger than the girl I used to be. The girl I am today is not as gullible as she used to be. The girl I am today is not scared to speak her mind. She is not afraid of embarrassing herself if she is having fun. She no longer cares what people think or say because she knows that what they think is their own opinion. The girl I am today is the girl people have come to grow and love. The girl I am today is Sherise. Short black hair, I'm a big boned chick but hey I'm fine with that now. Stands at 5'4 but acts like she is 6'6. The girl who acts tough at time but is more girly than anything. Some folks would say she has the smile to knock your socks off and that she is kind of on the crazy side but they still love her anyway. She was bullied about her size for a long time before she became okay with it. Still to this day she has some insecurities but she is working through them. She can make you smile with a joke or cry with an insult. Her rage is not deep but push the right buttons and you will see a whole different side that you have never seen. Sometimes she is moody and feels outta place, sometimes she is loud and dancing all over the place. Some would say this girl was different. She has goals of being an Actress, Pediatrician, and also just being famous in general. She wants to be the girl that some see as a threat but still be the sweetest girl you have ever met.
There is no kind of market for a girl like her today. Every magazine or TV show I see they are shaming certain kind of women. In this day and age if you are not skinny you are not pretty. If you speak your mind you are a bossy "female dog". What are we teaching these young girls today? That in order for the world to see then as beautiful they need to starve their selves or they need to get plastic surgery. If they speak their mind they won't be taking seriously and might miss out on a husband. These things scared me for a long time.
