Unemployment in Austria

Overview of the social system of Austria concerning unemployment and additional relief.
All people gainfully employed, employees as well as the self-employed, are subject to compulsory insurance, which includes unemployment, disability, retirement, and provisions for surviving dependents. The right to draw unemployment is contingent on having worked for at least one year. Unemployment benefits range from 50 to 70 percent of the recipient's previous net pay and are limited to a period of seven months. After this period expires, the unemployed can qualify for a series of different support programs depending on need. .
Computation of the rate of unemployment.
That is a really moot point due to the fact that we can distinguish between the local AMS-method and the EUROSTAT-method.
The AMS-method is based on a so called permanent-control-system without the self-employment. Whereas the EUROSTAT-method epitomizes a scheme on the basis of a poll, which includes not only self-employments but also people who are seeking for employment.
The variations of unemployment within the EU.
Unemployment rates in EU regions range from 2.1% in Finland to 28.7% in Italy's, according to figures from EUROSTAT. .
The jobless rate among the active population under 25 years of age varies between 3.5% and 65.2%, while between 2.0% and 41.4% of the women are out of work.
Youth (under-25) unemployment ranges from 3.5% in Austria's NiederÖsterreich to 65.2% in Calabria, Italy, while the EU average stands at 17.8%.
             My two cents worth.
From my point of view the unemployment is a welfare problem which is pretty hard to cope with, nevertheless it should be an objective of the state or government to reduce this rates.
