Wildlife management

             3. Density dependent is more severely affecting a population as the size of the population increase. Density independent is having an impact on a population not related to the population size. Logistic growth is growth of a population that approaches and remains near the carrying capacity of a habitat. This applies to wildlife management because there are many factors that affect populations in and or outside of the species such as climate and diseases. Carrying capacity is the maximal population a habitat can support without causing damage to the vegetation; may vary from year to year because of changes in productivity of vegetation. For wildlife management you can use logistic growth and carrying capacity in tables for populations to see the growth and how many organisms can occupy an area. It shows you the fluctuations of growth, and if the organisms is decreasing to extinction you can see it on the table on try to figure out the problem. Predator-prey interactions is the predator depends on the prey for a food source for survival. This applies to wildlife management because you could bring in a predator to cut down on other species for example bring in mountain lions to decrease deer populations but you also have to weary about the adverse effects. Competition is the active demand by two or more organisms for a commonly required resource that is limited. Competition applies to wildlife management because if you plant a certain type of grass you would want it to thrive but it will compete with other grass for food and sunlight. So you would try to figure out a solution to maybe kill of the other grass so that the grass you want to grow will become more abundant. Niche is the functional role of an organism within its habitat. Competitive exclusion is no two species can occupy the same niche at the same time. Niche and competitive exclusion plays a role in wildlife management because habitat is very important to survival for organism and if two species occupy a habitat you run into competition for recourses that both species need and therefore one species will probably dominate and the other will die out.
