The Right to Privacy- the human genome project

Although, in the genetics privacy and legislation it says "genetic testing and the use of genetic information by employers should be permitted in the following situations to ensure workplace safety and health and to preserve research opportunities,"(ref 1) there is always a strong probability that the information that employees acquire about their employees will be used against them. Another part of the legislation that I found interesting was on the next line where it said, "however, in all cases where genetic information about employees is obtained, the information should be maintained in medical files that are kept separate from personnel files, treated as confidential medical records, and protected by applicable state and federal laws."(ref 2) I"m sure that most companies and employers will do their best to insure the privacy of all employees" records, but there is usually someone who will exploit those records if persuaded or paid to do so. And then what would happen? For most people, the phrase "Laws were meant to be broken" is something that some people live by. So saying that the files would be protected by law, from all personal is completely ludicrous.
             Imagine being called from class to go into the principal's office in high school. The principal, your counselor, the school nurse and your parents are all in the office waiting to have a discussion with you. The principal then tells you that the results of your DNA test have come back and that you may possibly have a certain genetic disorder and that it would be better for your health if you sought medical attention as soon as possible, and that you take as much time off from school to insure that you have a successful recovery. You leave school, and immediately your peers start to spread rumors and ask questions about what has happened to you and where you've been. The principal and the faculty can only hold on to the information for so long, so eventually they end up telling the rest of the students that you have a genetic disorder that's preventing you from coming to school.
