It has really made running a business a lot simpler and more efficient than having to call everyone or write them a letter and put it in the mail. Now you can just email them and have them email you back in a matter of minutes. If people had to go back to the old way of contacting people and getting answers very quickly, it would be a terrible thing after having all this technology right in front of you and having it all taken away just for a few minutes of your everyday business routine. .
In many ways, computers have made life for most people a lot easier and faster but in a lot of ways it has made some peoples lives not even exist. It has taken a lot of peoples jobs away because the computer could do their job a lot quicker then they could by hand. Anyone that was in the production of automobiles might have got their job cut because of the introduction of computers and robots to build cars. Another negative factor of computers is that all the new viruses being created and distributed out to people's computers and are used to make the user of the computer a living nightmare and to slow the processes that they do down (Cincinnati Enquirer, Wed January 28th, 2004). Viruses have made the business world more expensive to operate since they have to hire people to fix them and buy expensive antivirus software that must be used to fix the computer. The uptime on computers far surpasses the downtime of them. .
Another factor that is very important to my field of study is that the speed of the internet has increased dramatically from very slow dial up to incredibly quick internet speed. The fast internet connections first started in 1996 when the cable television operators started selling cable modems that used cable - televisions lines instead of phone lines (Time, September 23, 1996). For example, the speeds of the fist dial up modems were 9600 kilobits per second and now the speeds of some cable lines are over 10 megabits per second which is around one thousand times faster then the first dial up lines.
