The Role Media Played in Military Conflicts

The technical perspective of the military planner was a third prominent element of television coverage. .
             The effect of the media is the publics understanding of war. The media hascaused Americans to have experienced a war that fits with the old romantic image.
             The media provides coverage of military conflicts and reports them to the public and show articles that are often in favor of the country the newspaper or other media source belongs to. Not like with the Vietnam War where it was blamed for causing America to lose the war. The role of the media is often to provide propaganda as well.
             More than before television showed the horrors of war and it brought the war to peoples living rooms during the Vietnam War. Television and the media's role during the Vietnam War were to bring the Vietnam War to the public and make the public become aware of the events of the war. This resulted in the demoralization of the home front.
             Reporting Vietnam media and military at war by Hammond says correspondents disagreed at times with official policy, but there reporting never questioned the end of the war. They argued in favour of more effective tactics and less official obfuscation. The military restricted the cencorship of the press in favour of a system of voluntary guidelines that respected the willingness of reporters to avoid relasting information of value to the enemy. The medias job in the Vietnam war was to report the Vietnam war and bring it to the public's living rooms.
             The media provided an alternative critical view of the Vietnam War. This view came from the streets of America and jungles of Vietnam and was covered because it was news. That's the role of Television, to cover wars like Vietnam and it did. The media were blamed for turning the American public against the Vietnam War. Vietnam was often described as the first television war since Television only played a minor role in the Korean War.
