Being able to survive on a deserted island all depends on the tools and devices I have at .
In November, off the coast of South Carolina, the weather can get somewhat cold, .
so a portion of my materials must be dedicated to keeping me safe from the elements. Some .
people may choose to take with them insignificant materials such as a toiletry kit or perhaps beer. .
I, however, would take objects that would keep me alive until rescued. This goes to show how .
my train of thought is more towards survival than of pleasure.
On a deserted island, I would need some form protection from the elements. A small .
hatchet and a Swiss army knife will play a major role in helping to create shelter as well as .
catching food. The tools found in the Swiss army knife will be instrumental in putting up a tarp. .
Wild animals on the island can be killed using the hatchet and cleaned using the Swiss army .
knife. There is no doubt that without having these tools on the island, I would most likely not .
survive.
While on the island I will also need to stay warm. It is safe to assume that the weather .
will drop rather low at night, so a sweater will definitely come in handy. The 10' by 12' foot tarp .
should be enough to keep me covered during a storm. Kitchen matches will give me the ability to .
light a fire in order to stay comfortably warm. These items attend to personal needs and comfort .
while at the same time playing a major role in keeping me alive.
When stranded on a deserted island, outside communication is always a good thing to .
have. If a boat or plane is spotted somewhere off in the distance, flares or some form of smoke .
signal will be essential in drawing their attention. Without this, it would be nearly impossible for .
me to catch their eye. A mirror is also an object that can be used to attract the attention of passer .
by's. This can be done by reflecting sun light towards the intended target. These items will too .
prove to be a key factor in assuring my survival on the island.
