Universal Preschool, Is it Justified?.
My Preschool years were very memorable and fun. I met a lot of people and still remember my teacher and some friends at preschool. I also learned a great deal of information as well. I believe this helped me in kindergarten because I had some structure and social skills. I still remember learning my address, phone number, and I still have my book about me, which I wrote down all of my information in it myself. In this little book, I showed how I knew colors, how to write, and to color within the lines. I also remember the kids in my class. I still have memories of interacting with them and the teachers. I believe the structure and socializing in my preschool years at Little Peoples Prep School gave me an advantage in kindergarten.
For the exploratory paper I knew I wanted to write about preschool systems, because our class focus is education. After all the talk about "universal preschool,"" I decided to look more in depth of exactly what it is and why some believe in it while others do not.
While I was searching on Ebscohost, I came upon an article called "Georgia, New York, and Oklahoma move toward universal preschool."" This article reports availability of free preschool education in Georgia, New York and Oklahoma. These states are trying to aim at making this educational service universal. "Wherever children live in the United States, and whatever there families' incomes, public schools are available free of charge. The same is not true of early childhood education- (Olson 1). This I see is a big problem as well, all kids have to go to grade school and it is paid for, but why is not preschool made available to all like kindergarten. In Georgia, New York, Oklahoma, and the District of Columbia they have made a commitment in providing free, publicly financed pre-k for any four-year old whose parents want it, regardless of income. But, many seem to not be using this system.
