The manefastation of love

In the article "The Manifestations of Love" the main theme is trying to explain the idea of love. Through a series of attempts to describe everything that is encompassed in the theory of love the author realizes that there are not words in any language that could describe the nature of love. For example, the author states, "One cannot speak enough of love's face (or "faces") to the very day of resurrection, for how can your ocean be measured with a saucer?" The author confesses his frustration in trying to speak of it correctly because it had been such a powerful force in his life and his poetry that he desperately yearns for a greater understanding of this divine mystery. Although the author realizes that he can never truly describe love to the fullest, he still attempts to show the importance that love plays in his life by using metaphors and other forms of imagery in his poetry. For instance the author says, "Through love all that is bitter will be sweet, through love all that is copper will be gold." He writes long poems that create powerful images through a stream of consciousness that do not seem to have any logical order. Furthermore, in one of the poems the author converses with love. Such as when the author asks love, "Tell me truly, who are you?" Love answers, "I am life eternal, I multiply the lovely life." The author has a divine understanding of love stating that it is all that matters in life. .
There are many different images and metaphors used to describe love. He speaks about the powerful force of love, and how it acts like a magnet attracting everyone to it. The author relates the power of love to other strong images such as fire that can burn away everything, wind that has the ability to comfort, and lightning whose flash burns the cloud that hides the moon. The concept of love being symbolic of a fire is expanded on in many Persian and Turkish poems.
