The manefastation of love

It has been said that love is like a fiery ocean that has both the power to drown a person, or purify them and allow them to swim freely. On the other hand love is usually more readily compared to water. For instance, since love not only is water, but it can also bring water, it is said that, "When the water carrier "love" shouts with the voice of thunder, the desert will soon be filled with greenery!" From there the imagery of love is transformed and related to spring, and a garden. Love can also be seen as a tree. Specifically, the different parts of the tree of love can be identified like the branches are considered pre-eternity, and the roots represent eternity. Then it is said that there isn't any beginning or end that love flows throughout it constantly and forever. Love is then also related to many different animals, and then love is compared to human beings, such as a king leading his men into battle. Clearly there are many different images that could be associated to love, and there are many more that have not been mentioned. It is such a powerful force that the only way humans can even begin to understand it is by relating it to tangible things in life. .
The relationship between love and intellect is then examined. The way the two interact is considered as it is noted that when the power of love enters the room intellect flees. There is hope that someday love and intellect will coexist in the activities of love, but it seems unlikely. It is argued that these two elements have this type of relationship because love is lacking of logic. Moreover, it is understood that love takes hold of a person, and makes them do crazy things. In the text Maulana exclaims, "Love is beyond letters and rational knowledge, it transcends all religious rites." This passage clearly demonstrates that the author believes love it something so important that it is held superior to religion.
