Jimi Hendrix


            Jonny Allen Hendrix was born on November 27, 1942. When Jimi was 1 year old, his dad changed his name to James Marshal Hendrix. Jimi's mother died when he got interested in guitars or about the age of 15. He got his first electric guitar when he was 12. When Jimi was 16, he got kicked out of school for holding a white girls hand. At the age of 17 he joined the army for 14 months as a paratrooper. Later, Jimi was a back-up guitarist for Little Richard, Wilson Pickett, King Curtis, Ike and Tina Turner, and the Isley Brothers. In 1965 he made his first band- Jimmy James and the Blue Flames. They played at night clubs and Chas Chandler happened to be at one of those clubs and offered to be their manager. In1966, The Jimi Hendrix Experience was made with Noel Redding on bass and Mitch Mitchell with the drums. They toured Europe, Breaking attendance records at many clubs. Then, they signed a recording contract. The most popular hits were "Hey Joe", "Purple Haze" and "The Wind Cries Mary" . There was one problem. Jimi would think he played bad and would have temper tantrems and would smash or burn his guitar. In "68 he was in jail in Sweden for wrecking a hotel room. But he still produced "Are you Experienced?" and "Axis: "Bold As Love". In 1968 "Electric Ladyland" and "All along The Watchtower" were made.
             Sometime in 1970, he went home with a qirl named Monika. They got home at about 8:30 pm. They played music and talked until 1:45 am. The two of them went to bed and talked until 7:00 am when Monika took a sleeping pill and fell asleep. Later, Jimi took 8 or 9 of the same pills. Monika woke up around 10:20 am. Jimi was sleeping like a normal person. She was just about going to leave when she saw vomit on his nose. She could not wake him up so called the ambulance. Jimi had died that night by choking on his own vomit.
             The pathologist reported a large amount of Seconol in Jimi's blood but no reason to assume that suicide was the cause of death.
