Censorship and Music

However, stations still played Dylan's songs covered by other artists. .
Censorship today is not as bad as it was then, that's because the music industries of today have not let its self be bullied by organizations like PMRC and their self indulged oversize egos, but have learned to compromise with these organizations, ex. the Explicit Lyrics logo, to inform parents and the general public of what a music CD may contain. Again this brushes the point that the public should be able to choose what music it wants to listen to or discard, instead of getting the music someone else thinks is something we might listen to.
Lawsuits against artists/musicians over the actions of youth, parents say were provoked by the lyrics of songs. Ozzy Osbourne was sued in "1985" by the parents of a teen who committed suicide which they believed was provoked by the song "Suicide Solution," the case was thrown out of court and all files for appeal were denied, stating their was no proof the song incited the suicide of the teenager. Another artist who is currently deep under the censorship gun shock rocker Marilyn Manson has faced similar allegations by many parents. The Colorado shooting of the Columbine High school on April 20, 1999, was thought to be provoked by Lyrics sung by Manson. Johnny Lee Clary a man who was a former Grand Dragon and member of the KKK who is now reformed, devotes his life to Christianity, wishes to rid the world of racism and obscenities. He wrote some rather bias comments about Manson in a web posted article and openly blames Manson for the shootings at Colorado .
"The two who did the killings before killing themselves, Eric Harris, and Dylan Kliebold, where both followers of Marilyn Manson, and ran down the halls screaming "Marilyn Manson rules!" while they were shooting their classmates. They were heavily influenced by Manson, and listened to his music all the time." - John Lee Clary, THE TRUTH ABOUT MARILYN MANSON.
