How To Change A Diaper

As a teenager who might baby-sit or even as an adult, there will come a time when you"ll have to change a baby's diaper. If you follow some basic directions, you should be able to safely change the baby's diaper and make the baby a whole lot happier.
First and foremost you must think about safety. There are two main thing to remember about they are: hand washing and never leaving the child unattended. Hand washing is a vital part due to the risk of infection, not only to the child but also to the one the at is changing the diaper. Now onto never leaving the child unattended. You always want to make sure that the child is not going to be able to roll off of the surface that you are changing the child on. You also want to be sure not to change the child around a food preparation area. Personally I like to change a child on the floor, just make sure that there is not a step that he/she can roll off.
The second part of diapering is to make sure that you have all of the necessary items close at hand. This way you will not have to leave the child unattended. These necessary items can include all or some of the following: a clean diaper, diaper wipes, powder, a soft cloth, cream , extra set of clothe, plastic bag, and a warm washcloth.              Next place the child on his/her back, and remove the soiled diaper. If you have a weak stomach, take a deep breath and hold it before opening up the soiled diaper. If the child is soiled, or if you choose to use creams and/or powders be sure to clean the bottom with a warm washcloth or a diaper wipe. Also there is an old saying that goes something like this, "Boys go up and girls go down." This applies to wiping away the mess from a soiled diaper. The main reason is to ensure that with girls you must avoid pushing anything upwards into the genital and with boys you need to ensure that everything is cleaned away from the extra skin folds.
