Tuscan Sun

            
             Margaret Atwood wrote the "Game After Supper." She has written more than twenty books of fiction, poetry, and nonfiction. I believe Atwood wrote this to reminisce of a more innocent time. She used to play near her home as a child and writes of an instance when she was young.
             The first verse gives an idea in time where the story takes place. It was a time with no electricity and the porch was made of wood. The next verse just says that the porch is made of wood and an old man is rocking. It kind of gives you a southern feel to it. The following verse tells you what the house they lived in looked like. Afterwards, the next verse starts to describe the outside yard and what they are doing, which is hiding. Next, she specifies that she is hiding in the long grass with two dead cousins whom I believe are lying still as the dead. The membrane grown across their throats I believe stands for either their hands are around their face or as they laugh their throats expand. The next verse tells that they are filled with anticipation of getting caught but cannot remain quiet much longer. They next see someone coming. Finally, she thinks it will be her uncle if she is lucky and it is either because she wants to be found so they can start running or it is not her parents telling her to come in. They were playing hiding go seek.
