Roe vs. Wade = Abortion


The suit was that Norma wanted a legal abortion, yet she was not able to get one because the pregnancy was not considered as life threatening. This incident took place in March 1970. In order for her to abort the baby she would have to travel out of the country. .
             While abortions did not take place in hospitals women found other ways to abort. Several doctors did safe yet illegal abortions outside of the hospital on their spare time. These abortions took place in the most unsanitary places. For example, in filthy back alleys and cheap motel rooms. Women would do just about anything. Rich women could afford to travel to Europe for "safe" abortions. The consequences of having these underground abortions were bleeding to death, deadly infections, as well as injuries which will prevent them from having children.
             Norma's whole purpose for filing this suit was to get Henry Wade to legalize abortion in the state of Texas. By doing this, women could get an abortion under any circumstances. Therefore, women should think twice about having an abortion. She can save her life , as well as the child's life by just giving the child up for adoption.
