Friends, fellow citizens of Earth, we soon partake in a journey so magnificent that it is unparalleled by any in history. We gather today as the few, the chosen, to begin the quest of populating and industrializing Pluto. We must realize the incredible responsibility that has been delegated to us all. The development of an entire planet has been placed into our hands. This is why I propose that we bring a governing constitution on the journey. .
First and foremost, a constitution will be needed to maintain order in the Plutonian society. A constitution will provide the basis for the structure of our new government. Without this basis, confusion and disorder will surely take over society. The first few years of colonization will be the most crucial; and order must be established as early as possible. Furthermore, a constitution will be needed to establish a standard for judging the guilty. Look back to our early Earthling brothers in Massachusetts, at the Salem Witch Trials, who were like children without a mother, making accusations and perverting the justice system. May we learn from past mistakes and strive to avoid any horrors of this nature on Pluto.
A constitution will be needed to provide not only order, but also peace of mind. Soon we will be experiencing the new dangers and hardships of a wild planet, and will be able to rest in the strength of a well-planned constitution. This rest is essential to the productivity and prosperity of the new planet. The peace of mind provided by the constitution would allow us to shift our focus from worry to new endeavors, like intergalactic trade and conducting research on the promising wormhole. .
